Supervisor Psychological Contract Management

www.discountscat.com/product/6598650-supervisor-psychological-contract-management.html

The psychological contract describes the employer-employee relationship as an individualised exchange between organisations and their members. This exchange clearly goes beyond what is usually agreed upon in a written work contract and extends into the area of values such as accountability and fairness. News coverage shows us many examples of how management by objectives and pay for performance are not effective in binding managers and employees to the interests of their employers. This is why psychological contracts are such a relevant issue these days. While existing research shows a positive relationship between unbroken psyc- logical contracts and motivation as well as in-role and extra-role behaviours, there has been little interest in the concept from the perspective of strategic human resource management or leadership research. The research presented by Maida Petersitzke focuses on these issues and thereby makes an important and very valuable contribution. After presenting a well-structured and clearly-written overview of existing research and the theoretical basis of psychological contracts – which has rarely been described in detail – the present research focuses on the following two issues: Maida Petersitzke presents a conceptual framework which affords the description of an organisational exchange offer that is sustainable and tied to the human resource strategy. She also provides an empirical study of leadership behaviours that facilitate a positive perception of the psychological contract by employees and thereby generate employee behaviours in the interest of the organisation.

Project Management

Winner of 2020 PMI David I. Cleland Project Management Literature Award This book is a complete project management toolkit for project leaders in business, research and industry. Projects are approved and financed to generate benefits. Project Management: A Benefit Realisation Approach proposes a complete framework that supports this objective – from project selection and definition, through execution, and beyond implementation of deliverables until benefits are secured. The book is the first to explain the creation of organisational value by suggesting a complete, internally-consistent and theoretically rigorous benefit-focused project management methodology, supported with an analytical technique: benefit engineering. Benefit engineering offers a practical approach to the design and maintenance of an organisation’s project portfolio. Building upon the authors’ earlier successful book, Project Management for the Creation of Organisational Value, this comprehensively revised and expanded new book contains the addition of new chapters on project realisation. The book offers a rigorous explanation of how benefits emerge from a project. This approach is developed and strengthened — resulting in a completely client-oriented view of a project. Senior executives, practitioners, students and academics will find in this book a comprehensive guide to the conduct of projects, which includes robust models, a set of consistent principles, an integrated glossary, enabling tools, illustrative examples and case studies.

Advanced Models for Project Management

www.discountscat.com/product/6349077-advanced-models-for-project-management.html

More than forty years have passed since the early attempts to model projects. A large domain of theoretical developments has grown producing a high number of analytical and numerical results, but it seems that the main model is still the same: the concept of project network. This concept has come to represent the two major features underlying the notion of a project: the sequential and the competitive nature of its components, the project's activities. Actually, the sequential property defines the structure of the project and the competitive nature stems from the use of common resources (facilities, goods, equipment, management, etc.) to carry out the different activities. However, significant advances have been achieved in project modelling, allowing the production of much more powerful results: A. the concept of precedence and the description of activities has been generalized to produce a wide range of realistic representation of projects. B. the stochastic study of the features of projects such as the duration and cost of their activities is carried out by several analytical and numerical models, allowing experimental and forecasting analyses. C. the allocation of resources can be now studied for more complex situations and restrictions. D. the financial description of projects is more accurately studied and its optimization is thoroughly pursued. E. the assessment and the evaluation of projects now can be studied within the framework of multicriteria decision theory considering multiple perspectives and supporting the project manager to select the most appropriate compromises between risk, time and expected gains.
